Life Around the Woods

We have been home for a couple of weeks now, which has been nice. Our big RV trip is coming up very soon. We have been thinking it’s just around the corner all Winter. But the furniture was delayed in being ordered, which caused the delay in our trip. Brandon will be doing sales trainings when the new furniture hits stores, which is why we need to leave 6 weeks after it is ordered. It has now been officially ordered. I was hoping to be gone during the nasty Michigan Winter months. We are going to miss an entire Summer at home, which I have very mixed feelings about. Summer is the time of camping and getting together with our friends. I’m sad to miss that. I’m also a little concerned about the weather in those Southern states right during the Summer. Let’s just say our RV air conditioner will be overworked. Those that know Brandon well, know he keeps that thing like an ice box.

We have been doing lots of prep work getting the RV ready. I now have all the clothes packed and organized. I crammed so many more in this year then I did last year. Last year, one of my biggest regrets was not bringing enough clothes along. And honestly, we need our nice outfits when we are traveling. That’s when we see lots of people. So I made sure to really think through the outfits I packed. I packed lots of dress clothes, along with play clothes for the kids for those camp playgrounds they love. I love that my kids are now old enough to help me pack and organize, at least the two oldest. I put Brielle in charge of organizing all of our drinks in the fridge. We will obviously have to stop for groceries some along the way. We have figured out a pretty good system by now, though, to fit and store a lot of food. I have yet to do the big grocery shop before the trip. Β I always need to prepare myself emotionally for that. We utilize every inch of space we have. I keep canned things under couches and seats. We keep non- melting items, like crackers and chips, down below the RV in rubber storage totes. All perishables we keep in the fridge and freezer. It has a full size fridge, which I love. I have a big pull out pantry for spices, and another big cupboard pantry that stores lots of snacks. My kids basically snack constantly.

This is our go to lunch food when we are driving down the road. It’s quick and easy to warm up and fills everyone up. My boys, especially, love it. In case anyone is curious I left some out for dinner last night and Caed ate four sandwhiches.

We have been driving the golf cart a lot around home since the days have been warm. As soon as school is over, the kids head outside for the rest of the day. Each of them have been getting at least one bath every single day. They are definitely outside kinds of kids. They play so hard all day and sleep like rocks at night.

Brandon has been working a lot at cleaning up the trees that were cut down around our house. The kids have been taking turns riding with him when he drives the tractor.

  1. Sounds like you are going to have an incredible trip! You will have to do a walk through of your RV so we can see how you stock it and prep for such a long road trip. I do have to ask … do you plan to bring one of your cars with you behind the RV? I know if I was traveling for a long period of time I’d want to get away from the RV sometimes too! πŸ™‚
Also – have you guys decided on your stops yet??

    1. We always tow our van. It’s so much easier to drive a small vehicle to sights instead of the motor home. I did a post awhile back that you can search. It’s called New RV Tour. It shows the entire motor home and the storage. We are looking forward to motor homing and making more memories. 😊
