We made it. We lived. That’s all that matters. Forty hours straight in a mini van is not ideal. We are the filthiest form of filthy. I asked Brandon if he has a better appreciation now for how well bathed and groomed I keep our kids. I really try to keep them clean and well dressed. He does have a better appreciation. This van reeks.
Check out that messy little face. With driving so many hours, snacks were life. They prevented meltdowns and kept everyone happy and messy.
Brandon and I kept rotating driving. We did pretty much equal amounts of driving. Both nights we were on the road, we pulled off at a rest stop and we both slept about an hour. Other than that, we both took two hour shifts. When one would get tired, the other would take over. We obviously could have gotten hotels, but we were anxious to get home. Brandon has a meeting with a furniture buyer Thursday, so we were in a rush to get back. Plus I wanted to have time to unpack before his weekend. We have plans this weekend.
This week will consist of scrubbing this van raw, unpacking, laundry, wrapping presents(by the way, I haven’t even wrapped one yet), finalizing Christmas details, repacking, then heading to Ohio for Christmas.
Overall it was a great trip! We are thankful for the memories made!
