Magnolia Market

There are few things that motivate me to wake up, dress, feed, and load four kids by 7am. Magnolia Market is one of them. This morning we went with Brandon to his store training in Waco. We are camping in Dallas for a few days while Brandon drives around and does different trainings in different cities. Today’s training was obviously in Waco.

The Waco Haverteys was close to a walmart, so I took all four kids by myself. I won’t candy coat it. It was an absolute nightmare. The kids were all wired. Isla was hungry, crying, and annoyed that people were touching her head. J and B were running around everywhere then stopping abruptly. At one point I ran over Joah with the cart. He starting and crying and yelling, “you did that on purpose, mom!” There’s a chance we will wind up on peopleofwalmart.com. I was so relieved after to make it out to the car. I loaded and strapped all the kids and sat down in the drivers seat. Literally as I was reaching for the door to shut it, the wind caught it and it slammed into the car next to mine. As I was debating what to do, a very large woman came rushing out of the car I hit in a fury. I had no idea anyone was inside the vehicle, and I can’t lie I thought about speeding away to save my life. I thought I was going to get creamed. She looked so angry. I was just totally honest. I said, “I’m so so sorry. The wind caught the door and there was nothing I could do.” She softened and said, “you’re fine. The cars already damaged.” Phew! Thank you Lord. I was thinking I was going to have to pay her or sell her a kid or something.

After I recovered emotionally and physically, I drove back to Haverteys and picked Brandon up. We went to Magnolia Table to eat lunch only to find out there was a 2.5 hour wait. Most Schools here in Texas are on Spring Break and there were so many people. There was a special event going on today at the silos, and both the restaraunt and the store were swamped. We ended up eating lunch at In N Out Burger. Joah and Brielle remembered eating there when we went to Utah and they wanted to eat there again. They mostly remembered the hats and wanted to show Caed the hats.

After lunch we went over to Magnolia Market. Oh my word……the people. The special event was going on at the silos. We ended up parking on the road and walking 3/4 of a mile to get there. It was much much easier than trying to find a closer parking spot.

IMG_5179.JPGIMG_5181.JPGIMG_5193.JPGThe event was Spring at the Silos. I was really hoping to meet Chip and Joanna Gaines. I thought for sure they would be there with the amount of people the event drew, but nope.

The line to get into the store was about four blocks long. It moved pretty quickly. We finally got into the store, but could barely get the strollers through the crowd of people. What we ended up doing was pushing both strollers to the back wall of the store. Brandon graciously offered to stay with the kids while I walked around and shopped. Thankfully the kids all behaved really well thanks to this bag of popcorn. They ate the whole bag.

IMG_5187.JPGImagine trying to push two double strollers through this. My cashier said she has never seen the store this busy. Today was a record. I let brandon lead on the way out of the store. He is much more bold than I am. He isn’t afraid to shove his way through. We made it out.

IMG_5194.JPGI loved the store and I’m so thankful for the experience.

IMG_5199.JPGWe took it easy this evening at the campground. I made hot chicken sandwiches and homade salsa. I used a few too many jalapeños though. The kids couldn’t eat any and even I was struggling. Brandon loved it though!

One response to “Magnolia Market”

  1. Sorry for the Walmart experience, Carla. It’s so miserable to shop with young kids. I’m glad you got to go to Magnolia! It’s so cool you can say you’ve been there!
