It’s been an eventful morning. I feel like as a mom I’m cleaning constantly but never accomplishing anything other than cleaning up messes all day. Today was a prime example.
I heard a really weird noise in the basement so I walked down. There was some water on the basement floor so I moved the cover that was over the sump pump. As soon as I did water started splattering all the way up to the ceiling and all down the walls. Perfect for someone OCD like me and i should mention we are trying to close up the house for our trip. I immediately unplugged the sump pump and the splattering stopped. I had brandon(who was at work with a client and unable to leave) call the plumber. The plumber got to our house in 40 minutes but in the meantime the entire basement flooded. I don’t think well in emergencies at all. In my panic I started filling up a plastic storage container with the water. Once that was filled I started hauling water by the bucket full outside. Those of you who know our house know the basement is in the back of the house and the front door is obviously in the front. So I was literally running up the steps and through the entire house dumping gallons of water outside. I ran up those steps at least 30 times. Meanwhile the basement was getting more and more water buildup on the floor and I couldn’t keep up.
I ended up calling my dad. He came right away. The plumber also showed up right before my dad got there. He fixed the problem in about 10 minutes. It was a broken valve on the hose. That was what was causing the water to splatter. He said the basement flooded so quickly because we are totally surrounded by sand and it’s obviously the rainy season.
You can see the towels floating in all the water. The picture doesn’t do the scene justice.
My poor poor little bug just had shots Wednesday afternoon and has just wanted to be held ever since. She spent the entire time like this. So heartbreaking. Life is hard sometimes and balancing time between responsibilities is so hard to figure out. She survived and was happy again as soon as I picked her up
Everything ended well. I’m so thankful for my dad. I’m so thankful for plumbers. I’m also thankful for my cardio workout this morning. Steps and panic really got my heart rate going that’s for sure. It really spiced up the usual elliptical run which I opted to skip.
