Goodbye Friend

Just a fair warning, this blog is a little bit on the disgusting side. I said goodbye to a friend today. This friend has been with me 10 years(I know this cause that’s the length of my marriage).

So I have had this obnoxious cyst under my right arm. I got it checked out and was told it’s called a sebaceous cyst. It wasn’t dangerous, or even too annoying……until about 3 weeks ago. Something happened. It was most likely my poor efforts to lift weights. All the sudden the cyst started really hurting. It got infected. It started growing and growing and growing for the last 3 weeks. It grew abscesses. It was darn near the size of a golf ball. I finally decided enough is enough and called a dermatologist today. I would have called doctor pimple popper, but decided to stick with Michigan. The dermatologist was booked up until May. Wonderful. This is where the beauty of Pigeon comes in. I called Scheurer Hospital. I explained the situation(that I am a procrastinator….for 10 years). They got me in today(literally the same day I called). They have been with me through my face smash(car accident) and they were with me through my horrendous cyst.

I went in and showed the doctor. She told me she most likely wouldn’t be able to remove it today since it was so infected. She decided to drain it. Once she started, though, she changed her mind. She said not much was draining and she wasn’t going to make me wait any longer in pain. She removed it.

Now let me tell you…..this is literally 10 years of built up nastiness inside this cyst. The smell was out of this world. I was looking the opposite direction and wearing a mask. I was gagging. The doctor was looking directly into my armpit. She reassured me she lives for this kind of nasty procedure and actually likes it. I’m telling you….she’s a liar. This was SO terrible. Poor poor poor doctor. I feel like I owe her a bonus or something. I did make one request and that was that she didn’t explain to me in food what the inside looked like(like doctor pimple popper does). I was fairly sure my stomach couldn’t handle it at the time.

It took her around 1/2 hour. I probably lost 3 pounds. My arm is super sore, but in around 3 days I’m going to be good to go. I have around 10 stitches and I made the mistake of showing the kids. They all gasped and Caed broke the ice by saying “mom that’s gross! Don’t show me that again! I’m just a kid.”
