Today Needs Blogged

Some days need documented, so I never forget. I always think there’s no way I will every forget, but too much chaos makes me forget. So I better just write these things down. Some days are more eventful than others. Today was one of them.

Today was supposed to be fairly low key. We had three main things to accomplish. One: school. Two: haircuts. Three: dog groomer. The first two things went smoothly. The dog groomer went fine too. It wasn’t until leaving the dog groomer that things went downhill.

Let me just say that I’m a little bit of a crazy person about a clean dog. We take Bear to the groomer every 4-5 weeks. He always smells good and is cleaner than ever, when he returns. We had just picked him up. We needed to drive to the shop. The kids and I all went into the office and left the dog in the car. Next thing I knew Caed had disappeared. I was just starting to look around for him when he appeared……with a dog……coated in mud over every single inch of his body. Caed is the worst ever communicator under stress. He wouldn’t tell me what happened. After some guessing and finally a confession, we figured out what happened. Caed went to let the dog out of the suburban and bring him into the office to join the family. Caed hasn’t picked up on the fact that the dog is a freaking idiot and needs put on a leash every single time he goes outside. He will NOT come otherwise. Dog took off, found the mud, rolled, and ruined my life. I’m just thankful he didn’t dash to the road and get hit. Caed would have been a lot more traumatized. He was still pretty traumatized. He learned a very valuable lesson on obedience.

As soon as we got home, I had to re-bath the genius. I left the other kids outside to play since it was so warm out(for Michigan). The dog was dirtier than I’ve ever seen him. the tub was turning black. I rinsed and washed him around 7 times. Brandon and I ended up tag teaming it. That way I wouldn’t completely lose my mind. Next thing I knew Caed came to the door and yelled “save my sister. Save my sister. She isn’t moving.” We go outside to see Brielle hanging on for life dangling over the 10 foot drop down to the new concrete basement. She was in the addition and in the one area she wasn’t supposed to be in…..the big huge hole with a dangerous drop down to the concrete. Brandon grabbed her. Between everyone screaming “Brielle fell” and Brielle screaming and crying, I though she actually did fall. I was ready to rush her to the ER, but Brandon clarified that she didn’t actually fall all the way down. She was just shaken up. Again, a lesson was learned on obedience.

No joke, while we were outside saving Brielle’s life, I heard Isla screaming from the house. I ran inside to find her trapped under a door. Apparently she wanted a snack. She opened our pantry door and it came off the hinges somehow and fell on her. She wasn’t hurt but very scared.

Now let me point out, 90% of the time it’s our oldest who causes us stress. Well today, the three youngest won.

It’s nearly bedtime(for kids). Bring on the wine. Tomorrow is a new day.
