Hello 4am. We ended up making the call to wait to leave until this morning. The repair man did end up showing up last evening, but he wasn’t finished until 8pm. He didn’t fix the slide, he just got it shut. He said he would need another week(to order another part) to totally fix it. So basically it cost a lot to have a slide shut. He was going to charge $1000, but Brandon said “I’m not paying $1000 to shut a slide that I’m going to have to pay to have fixed again.” We wanted to be fair to the guy, but yet not overpay for something that wasn’t even fixed. So we settled at less. We can’t use the slide for the remainder of this trip. That’s a huge bummer, because obviously space is limited already. But we will survive. I’m trying to choose a fabulous attitude.
This morning we woke up at 3:45 to be on the road by 4. This is hard on Brandon(who has to drive while everyone sleeps), but he went to bed early last night. The kids should sleep until 7:30-8, which makes the trip much quieter and easier.

Last night we got a little bit of entertainment. The cops came out to deal with our neighbors here at the campground. Several of the members of this campground are permanent dwellers. The reason I know this is from the dad I’ve been talking to all week. His two kids have been playing with my kids all week. As the kids play, he gives me the scoop on the campground. So one of the permanent residents, who happens to be our neighbors, had a domestic violence issue last night. We heard a bunch of screaming and yelling coming from their camper. Then we saw cops.

Joah watched them talk to the guy for about an hour. He kept giving us the play by play. He would say “oh boy dad, he looks super mad. I think this is serious.” 🤣

We ended up going outside and grilling dinner. The cops came over to us and talked to us. They asked if we knew anything about our neighbors. We told them we knew very little, because we were only at the campground four nights. But we told them about the yelling we heard earlier that day. I told them I had been around all day. I had only seen a male coming and going from the camper. I didn’t even know there was a female inside.
The campground we are staying at is only a couple miles from the strip. It’s honestly a little shady. Most places I go, I feel totally safe. I can’t say I felt that at this camp. It’s a nice campground. It’s just the area of town that it’s in, that gave me the uneasy feeling.
I will say that we made a few friends. There were very few kids, but the ones that were there, flocked over to us. This single dad that I talked to all week, hung out each evening with us with his two kids. He really appreciated us. He said his kids hardly come outside, because they have no one to play with. There was also a grandpa we met who had custody of his grandson. He said his grandson had been itching all day to play with some kids. So we invited him to come over. Last night we had 7 kids in the motor home. Honestly, I love it. Brielle especially is a social butterfly. My kids love the action, and it’s good for them since they are apart from friends back home so often.
I’m thankful to be on the road again!
