Texas Hill Country

We are now headed into the Hill Country of Texas. We will be without cell phone coverage and internet. I might as well be living among the Amish, like my relatives. Brandon did point out to me that I’ll still have electricity, running water, movies, books, playing cards, and deodorant.

Yesterday, while at Bass Pro Shop, Joah saw this. He asked for permission to buy it and surprise Brandon. I helped him check out and pay for it. He was so excited and said “dad, I have a surprise for you that’s perfect. You drive was all over, and you pretty much have a trucking company.”

We tested out the walkie talkies this morning. We let the oldest two kids go to the park. They called us every 5 minutes. Brandon even tried to embarrass them by saying “hey kids, how much do you love your dad?” loudly In front of all their friends at the park. The walkie talkies came in handy during this morning’s mini crisis.

Brielle fell off the monkey bars. Those of you that know her well know how well she handles pain. She’s possibly the most dramatic child in the world. She did scrape her nose up pretty good, and I have no doubt it hurt.

Well peace out for a week. We will be hiking, hunting, keeping up with school, reading, exercising, resting, and spending quality non-screen time together as a family. Brandon has met an older couple down here and they let him hunt on their property and they have full RV hookup. The last time Brandon was there, they saw a rattle snake right on the property. So even with walkie talkies, my kids still won’t be going outside alone.
