It’s been an eventful couple of days. I’ll start with the depressing. Our basement flooded AGAIN! This time it wasn’t due to a power outage. After a lot of speculating and confusion, we’ve figured out what happened. No joke two crayola markers got wedged in the sump pump. One got wedged in the main one. One got wedged in the backup. Both pumps shut off. We live on a sand pit. Despite our home being checked daily, that basement will flood in 40 minutes tops. So anyways, my poor dad almost had a heart attack when he found 8 inches of water and several of our things damaged. Dad insisted that we don’t need to fly home. An adjuster and a family friend is totally on our side and it’s all going to work out. I’m so thankful for a community of people willing to help and relieve my stress.
A piece of good news….we found out today on the news that there was a shark spotted at Daytona Beach today very close to swimmers. Now, we were thinking of going there TODAY. Brandon had two store trainings, so we had a long day waiting for him. Traffic was terrible by the time he was finished and we decided to just drive to Orlando and not go to the beach. Thank you Lord for your protection! We had a relaxing evening at the Orlando campground.

We did a lot of painting today thanks to Brandon’s one training being right next to a Micheals craft store. My kids love painting. I love water paints. They aren’t nearly as messy as other paints.

I ordered a Melissa and Doug set of sand art before his trip. I’ve been saving it for the perfect time. Today seemed like the right time. The park was too wet to play at thanks to s downpour of rain. We were all swimmer out. The kids needed something to do while I cooked dinner, and grandma was willing to help them.

Yesterday we went to St. Augustine, which is the very oldest city in the USA. There were so many historic things to see. We had only one day to spend there, so we had to narrow it. We decided to go tour the fountain of youth. We drove by the fort and the lighthouse. We walked around St. George street. Then we ate at a spanish restaurant.

Can I be real for a second? South Carolina was miserably, unbearably hot. We were struggling to go anywhere outdoors. There were fights breaking out among the adults over who had to go outside wnd supervise the rugrats. Without going into horribly detailed description, I have now figured out the meaning of the term “boob sweat.” Also “butt sweat” for that matter. It wasn’t pretty. Florida has been like a breath of fresh air. Now, apparently there’s some sort of tropical storm going on. It’s been raining daily and the sun hasn’t been brutal. There has also been a nice breeze since we’ve been here. I’ll take it!
