Sickness in Washington DC

Apparently there is a vicious sickness going around the Thumb of Michigan. Even though we were only home for one week, we managed to pick it up. Let me tell you, it has not been pretty.

Brielle threw up right during Grant’s open house last Saturday. I didn’t think much of it, since she had eaten way too much sugar and played way too hard that day. Then I started with it Monday evening. Let me tell you, I felt bad for not not taking Brielle more seriously. It was awful. I will spare you all the details. I’ll just say this….I threw up so many times my c-section muscles were killing me. And my c-section was 20 months ago. Luckily I got it the very worst of everyone. It has moved through every family member now, including Brandon’s mom(who came with us to help with the kids). All the kids threw up 1-3 times and they were done.

Through it all, we pressed on. We are only in DC for a short time. Monday evening we were on our way into town when I quickly said “pull the car over Brandon. I’m going to puke.” I’m really sorry to the Chic Fil A outdoor bush, that was the unfortunate closest target. We decided it was too dangerous to go into DC with just two adults, since I was down. We went and saw Toy Story 4 instead. I puked 3 times during the movie and once on the walk to the car. So that wasn’t our most brilliant idea either. Joah threw up on the car ride home from the movie.

The next day, Tuesday, we drove into DC. Brandon had to pull the car over for himself to go puke. We decided to go anyways, because yesterday was our only chance to go. Luckily Brandon was a once and done puker. He survived the day. We even managed to have some fun. We didn’t get done nearly all we wanted to, but it was better than nothing. We came home last evening only to have Caed and Isla throw up. Lori started this morning. Like I said, this is some vicious sickness. I can’t remember the last time the flu flew through every single family member. I’m thankful the sickness got out of the way early in our trip. The kids picked it up at VBS last week. I’ve heard several other VBS members got sick also. Brandon still managed to get all of his store trainings done. We also managed to see some of DC.

Here are some picture of our time here…..

The kids reuniting was very sweet. They missed each other after being separated all week. We slept at Grandma’s House for  one night, then the next day started the drive to DC.

We even got to take a paddle boat ride over to see the Jefferson Memorial. Isla wasn’t old enough to go(you had to be two). Caed didn’t want to go. So grandma stayed behind with the youngest two kids, while Brandon and I paddled the older two.
