Tornado Warning

Yesterday the weather was beautiful, around 95 degrees but windy so not miserably hot. Right around 7pm the weather took a turn. We turned on the news and realized there was a tornado warning very close to us in Lubbock, Texas. Luckily we had just cleaned our outdoor toys up and we all ran inside the motor home. Things got a little loud and crazy. I’m not talking weather wise, I’m talking children wise. They were wired. At one point in time I headed for the door. Brandon said “where  do you think you’re going?” I said “I’m going to seek out this tornado.” I ended up changing my mind and sticking it out. I survived until bedtime.

We did manage to have a lot of fun yesterday before the weather got bad. We only had a two hour drive after Brandon’s store training yesterday morning. I decided to cook on the road while we were driving to save time when we got to the campground. In case you’re wondering what cooking on the move looks like, here you go.

It’s Caed’s favorite though, so I sacrificed.013612C9-4114-458F-A579-9E6BFD6ABD98.jpegWhen we got to the campground, I took the kids swimming while Brandon set up camp. He soon joined us. This camp had an indoor pool. Perfect! No sunscreen.

These little prarie dogs were everywhere. They weren’t afraid of people at all. They came right up to us. We got to see them go in and out of tunnels. We got to see so many little babies. They were so adorable. I even noticed a little one breastfeeding. 🤣 Then I witnessed one of the funniest things. There was this mother prarie Dog, who was eating. Her little baby came up to her and was trying to climb on her and play. She tackled, and I mean tackled that thing. She knocked him over good. I was laughing so hard. I know the feeling. It’s like “JUST GIVE ME ONE MEAL!”

We had to remind the kids that these are wild animals, so they couldn’t try to hold them. The girls kept saying “awwww! Cute!” The older kids took so many pictures. Brandon told the kids if they get bit, they would have to go get a shot at the hospital. That really scared poor Caed. He kept yelling at the other kids. “Stay back.” At one point in time he was screaming and crying because Isla was going to close. You have to love his heart. He was very concerned.

The kids got some outdoor time at the camp playground while I made dinner. Soon after, we all ended up stuck inside the RV. I already wrote about why….. the tornado warning. I am thankful for God’s protection. Here’s to better weather today!
