Kansas

In case you’re wondering if the news reports are true about all the flooding going on, yes they are. On our drive to the campground yesterday we got a call from the owner. He wanted us to be aware of what we were getting into. He said most the camp, including the playground was covered in water. We told him we were ok with it. We just basically needed a place to stop and sleep on our drive to Texas. We drove through horrible rain most of the last two days.

Our kids did not mind the mud. In fact, they loved it. Even I didn’t mind the mud. After being cooped up in the RV for two days I let go of my OCD and let them go wild.

It’s possible it’s only certain ones that carry them. But anyways, they are our favorite. We don’t get them often at theme parks because they are so expensive. All day long yesterday, the kids behaved very well with the bribe of dippin dots after dinner for good behavior.

Isla learned a new phrase….”dip dot.”

Joah and I headed up to the cement slab at the camp that wasn’t covered in water. We had so much fun together. Aunt Bethany got us two hover boards to take on this trip…one for Caed’s birthday and one family one to share. I told Joah this can be he and my bonding activity we do together. Just like he and his dad hunt together, we have this to do together. He kept joking around with me and laughing. It felt good to have fun together. He loved the one on one time. He even learned to ride the hover board while shooting the basketball.

It was good timing, because right then Brandon drove back from his store training. We loaded in the motor home and headed out.

We are driving through rain again today. We heard there was actually a tornado last night in Kansas City. Oklahoma, where we’re driving through today, is also having bad weather.

  1. That pic of those two “wish I hadn’t rolled in the puddles” boys is both priceless and precious.
