Travel Day

Remember the ending of my last blog? The part about us going to bed early? It was a wonderful thought of mine. I forgot, for just a minute, who I married though. While we were sitting around the hotel room and all hungry and about to snack(we ate a really late lunch/early dinner), Brandon says “just made us an online reservation. We are going out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.” I tried to appear grateful, instead of letting my true feelings show. I failed.

On the walk into the restaraunt, there was a huge puddle. I told all the kids to make sure to walk AROUND the puddle, not through. They listened. However, I didn’t realize there was a huge patch of ice on the side of the puddle. Boys made it. Brielle’s splash then cry told me she did not. Poor Brielle. If there’s a flight of steps, she is the child who will fall down. The girl is so accident prone. The girl is also very dramatic. These things are not good combinations. Luckily, the restaraunt was only a mile from our hotel. Brandon drove her back to change while I went and sat down with the others. We all sat down and Caed piped up “I have to poop.” I chose to take the baby along and leave Joah in charge of the table. He explained to the waiter “My sister fell into a puddle. My brother is taking a dump. We’ll all take waters to drink, please.”

Once everything had settled, I was able to enjoy myself. We ordered the coolest pretzel. Isla ate about half of it. Soft pretzels are her favorite. Notice her little finger pointing in excitement.

Today, we drove with Brandon to his store training. The kids were so exhausted and so was I. I didn’t feel like venturing out to find a play place. We just chilled, snacked(on fruit and cereal we grabbed from the hotel before leaving), and watched Wild Kratts in the van while Brandon trained. Wild Kratts is my kids’ current favorite show and teaches all kinds of animal facts. I have heard and learned more animal facts this trip then ever before.

After Brandon’s training this morning, we had a three hour drive. We kept the movies off and listened to worship music for the drive. We had our own little church service with scripture and worship.  One of the hard things about traveling, is not knowing what day of the week it is. We lose track. It sure didn’t seem like a Sunday. We try to really engrain the scripture in our kids and teach them about the importance of relationship and living out their faith. Wherever we are and whatever day of the week it is, we need to worship and fill ourselves with the the truth of God’s word.

We arrived at our next hotel in Wisconin Dells. We are checking out Atlantis this time. We stayed at Mount Olympus last time and loved it. I love the nice big rooms in these hotels. They have bunk beds for the kids. The water parks are awesome. This time of year they aren’t busy and have very good discount rates.

This water park was very fun.

It might be kids falling asleep between bites again. We will see.
