Arrival in Utah

What started as a very smooth trip, did not end nearly as smooth. What should have taken us 5 hours to drive(to finish up the trip) took us 8. Between the terrible weather in Wyoming and my kids pea size bladders, it took us forever to get here. Wyoming is not my favorite state, that’s for sure. It is SO windy. It’s also never ending and is literally the middle of nowhere with not many places to stop. We kept sliding around in the van, and that was going 40mph. The roads were pure ice and the wind was terrible. We really should have brought the suburban. We are trying to preserve the life of the sub, so we opted to bring the van. Well, we regretted it today.

Brandon ended up getting pulled over about an hour before arriving. I told the kids to be very quiet and behave, this is very stressful on dad.  As soon as the police officer walked up, Caed goes “hello police man. This is my yellow duckie blanket. Also, my name is Caed.” The police officer asked if we were from around here. Joah yelled from the back “oh no. We had to drive a long long ways to get here.” The police man was really cracking up at the boys. Brandon got off with a warning. He wasn’t speeding, he didn’t properly use his blinker while changing lanes. 🤦‍♀️

We finally, and I mean finally made it to Salt Lake. Overall, the kids did amazing. We were all just anxious to get out of the van. Brandon did the majority of the driving, but I kept switching him for small  bits so he could get some sleep .

Priority number one was unloading the car and getting settled. Priority number two was getting Brandon ready. He started working very soon after we arrived today. Priority number three was scrubbing all the kids. We doubled our teeth brushing time too. They were little filth balls.

I made sure the boys did plenty of running. After our walk, we ended up at the camp playground. The kids remembered it well from the last time we camped here.

I was kind of surprised by that, because I’m not really a smart genius. I can’t lie, I was expecting less snow and warmer weather than Michigan. The playground slides were pretty much out. The boys ran wild for a few minutes all over the playground.

We came back inside our cabin after the kids got cold. We settled down with Joah reading books to us. I had some exhausted kiddos, along with myself being exhausted. We are in bed by 8. Here’s to adjusting to a new time zone. We are two hours behind Michigan time. It’s always an adjustment, but I immediately just start living like it’s whatever time, in whatever time zone, we are in. Tonight we ate dinner and went to bed at the normal time we would back home. We should adjust by tomorrow.
