We decided to drive straight through to Salt Lake City since there are two drivers. The nice thing about not having the RV is that I’m able to drive without risking the lives of everyone in our vehicle and on the road. We didn’t want to get a hotel for only a few hours, unload the entire car, drag sleeping kids inside, then wake them up early morning and reload the car. That seemed like just as much work to us as driving through.
We didn’t stop for food at all yesterday. We wanted to eat through what I brought before it went bad. Our only stops were bathroom breaks and gas. We made sure to let the kids run around each stop. We had several people stop and smile at the running, matching pajama 4 incredible kids. We even had one lady clap and cheer after seeing the show.
20 minutes into our drive Brielle piped up. “Dad, has it been 28 hours yet?” “Nope Bri, we still have 27 hours and 40 minutes to go.”
The kids have done amazingly well. I was the most concerned about Isla. That’s a long time for her to be in a car seat. The stage between the years of 1 and 2 are the very hardest in my opinion for traveling. They don’t understand that we’re driving to do fun things. They are beyond the age of sleeping the whole time. And they want to be on the move. She did amazing! She has seriously been the best little baby. I’m so thankful.
6 hours from Salt Lake, we have encountered our first obstacle. Brandon is driving uphill in 40mph winds with a 6 degree temperature. The picture doesn’t come close to showing how much it’s blowing. We have seen several cars pulled over and waiting out the storm.

How can you beat this view though? It’s so incredible!

We passed this Abraham Lincoln memorial. Joah yelled out “Oh my gosh, kids look! You will see Abraham Lincoln.”
5.5 hours to go until we arrive and Brandon starts working. We are trying to push it hard the very beginning of the trip to gain some time. There are several things in California we didn’t have time to do our last trip. I am really hoping to see them this time around.
