I made the comment to Brandon that I would like to do lots of Christmasy things with the family this year. I love these fun family memory making activities. Well, he took me seriously. We have lots of activities planned for this month. The first thing on the list is something I’ve always wanted to do. We went to the Wild Lights show at the Detroit zoo. I love visiting zoos. We have seen several of them across America on our RV trips. We had never done the Detroit Zoo before, and we were not disappointed.

One of the nice things about a small baby is that she still fits in last years infant snowsuit, size 6 months. We squeezed her in there, then put this year’s coat on overtop, and she she stayed nice and warm the whole time.
One of Joah’s favorite light up displays was the moose.
We went with our friends, The Severance’s.
We really wanted to get a family picture under this ornament.
Now there is a story behind this picture. These smiles are very fake. We had just stood in line for about 10 minutes to take the picture. Right when it was almost our turn, I looked on the back of both of our strollers. The diaper bag(with my purse inside) was missing. I asked Brandon if he had it. Like he really would, but it was worth a try right? Nope he didn’t have it. I ran over to the Severance’s. They have the same stroller we do, and I thought by chance we switched them. Nope again. I ran back to the family, we snapped the picture, then we panicked. The only time the bag had been unattended was during a carousel ride. Jessi and I were talking and not really paying attention to the empty strollers while Brad and Brandon took all the kids on the ride. That was the only time it would have been left alone. Brandon reminded me very obnoxiously that we aren’t in Pigeon. Bags need to be watched at all times. I mean timing Brandon, really? Long story short, we were about to call and cancel cards. We decided to try to find zoo security first. They asked me my name. I told them. Turns out someone turned the bag in. I am forever grateful to them. I think the most likely thing that happened was it must have fallen off somewhere while walking through the zoo, rather than someone witnessing someone take it. Whatever happened, I’m so so thankful. The night had a good ending. My kids stayed awake the entire car ride home until the last 15 minutes. Only my kids. Not even a night in the freezing outdoors could tire them out.

These last few days Joah has been into inventing. The book we read through about the Wright brothers has really inspired him.
I give you invention number one.
And invention number two. Basically he taped some bat wings on a transformer making this gliding bumblebee.
I’ve been having Joah do a lot of schoolwork on his own, with my eye hurting. After he competed this page he goes: “mom, I didn’t follow directions completely. You won’t be mad at me though, I only added more color to make it more beautiful.”
This kid is on the move. She is like a cute tiny little tornado.

Caed has been keeping it real.
So has Brielle.
And a Brielle story:
Brielle(while playing with our nativity): “mom, where’s baby John?”
Me: “baby John? You mean baby Jesus?”
Brielle: “no mom, baby John.”
Me: “you mean John the Baptist.”
Brielle: “yes, he’s the one. Where is John the Baptist?”
Me: “well most toy nativity sets don’t come with him. Only baby Jesus.”
Brielle: “ummmmm. Hello! John paved the way!”
Kids are seriously hilarious and entertaining. It amazes me what things stick.
