It was an exciting day in our home today. Today was day one of a new school desk for Joah. This desk solves a few issues, making it just as exciting for me as it is for J. We have a big round table in our basement where we do school every day. It was one of those trial and error things that I didn’t realize was going to be a problem until we started. Even though we don’t have an entire classroom of kids, we are pretty darn close when you consider the chaos and energy of Yowler children. Because of the slight age difference of the kids, they all need different things to keep them busy during a school day. Isla loves to crawl around and try to eat dangerous things and cause trouble. Brielle and Caed love to color, paint, do stickers, do puzzles, and play play doh. Joah needs to get his workbooks done before crafts or play. With the younger kids sitting right next to him, this has ended in crying and not understanding how “not fair” life is, more than once.

Now he has his own space, which he helped me organize. This desk is cool for a couple reasons. Number one: now he has a space to call his own, that gets him more excited about school and learning. Number two: this desk has been in my family awhile. It has been passed down through my brothers. They have passed it back and forth. It started with Evan. It ended with Lance. With lance being at college, mom offered it to me. Surprise Lance. I mean who wouldn’t want to learn at the same learning center as Lance the great? Joah feels pretty cool following in his uncles steps.
Joah whizzed through his work today. Then he was able to join the others at the craft table.

Caed was even able to sneak over to the desk for a few minutes.

Let’s just keep things real for a minute. As organized as I try to be, or as you might think I am, this is always how the basement looks at the end of a school day. Right after I took this picture, I tripped over a car. So that was fun. Yay!
Here are a few more pictures to recap our week. The volunteers at MOPS are seriously amazing. Here is the craft on the four seasons that Joah made in the homeschool room.

My kids are weird.

We can never get enough of watching those goats and Apple picking.
