We tagged along with Brandon as he had meetings in Chicago. We wanted to see a few things. The main event was going to be the Willis(formerly known as The Sears) Tower skydeck tour.
Brandon dropped us off at Chic Fil A during his first meeting. We love the food and there is usually a play place for the kids to run and play. We were there for a long time and the kids made a bunch of friends in the play place before we left. Isla hung with me, and she ate a ton of food. She is right at that in between stage where I question if I should buy her a meal or just share mine. Seven chicken nuggets later, I knew I made the right choice to buy her her own meal.
When she’s in the mood, this kid can eat. You wouldn’t know it because she’s so tiny.
Brandon’s 2nd training was right beside a Target. I love when that happens. Brandon took J with him and I took the youngest three shopping. We got Isla a new outfit because she destroyed her old one with chicken nugget grease. We walked around for awhile. You can see how thrilled Caed is to be in the Barbie Isle.
Driving to the Willis skydeck took a long time. Traffic was really bad. It was right in downtown Chicago. Joah was so excited to go. We had been reading and stydying about the tower. He loves these kinds of things.
We got there, paid to park, walked to the tower with our two double strollers, only to find out……the weather was not good for seeing anything from the skydeck. The lady explained there were no discounts and when we got to the top we would see a big white wall. It was pretty expensive and we felt like that would be irresponsible to go and see nothing. Joah was so so sad. I felt bad for him, but he got a good lesson on life. Life isn’t always fair and he learned how to handle disappointment.
He was very sad and disappointed for our entire walk back to the car, but then he came around. We were all really hungry by that point and found a really nice restaraunt.
After dinner, everyone was in a good mood again.
The next day Brandon left us at the campground to play and explore while we worked. The Chicago Northwest KOA was very nice with lots of family activities and a huge playground.

We got a lot of rain on this trip and the playground was really muddy. The kids kept finding worms. Most kids would be grossed out. Mine weren’t. They made a worm farm with homes and pools for the worms. Before long this entire mud puddle was filled with kids. They were muddy messes, but having a blast. I let the kids play for a long time, then had to scrub them.
Why are babies so cute while they are eating?
That evening after Brandon got home, we had some friends come visit us at the RV. Carl and Lindsay go way back with Brandon and I. Lindsay and Brandon went to school together and grew up together. When we were first married, we hung out a lot. Carl and Lindsay were at the hospital when I had my first baby. They fed Brandon in the waiting room since I told him I would murder him if he ate in front of me. It wasn’t until my water broke, that I realized how horribly awful labor is and I called Brandon and said, “drop your chicken wings right now and get your butt back in here with me.” 🤣 Life and distance have happened the last few years. I love the kind of friendships that can just pick up where we left off. We did the math and it had been over three years since we last hung out, but you would never have known it. It was so great catching up! I have sure missed these guys.
On a different note, Art Van Furniture launched a new Gascho collection and we made it on a commercial.
