I could write a whole blog or I could just keep it short. Yesterday.Was.Awful.
Just kidding. I’ll keep going. Brandon went to his morning meeting and gave me strict instructions to have the motor home cleaned up and ready to go by 10:30am. This was no easy job since we had been parked for three days. The RV was a disaster. I managed to clean everything up, plus keep the kids alive. Brandon got back at 10:30 and went to set the bed up so we could shut the slides and drive off. For those who have never seen the RV, we have an adjustable bed that needs to be in the up position(basically like a couch) in order to close the back slide. Guess what…..the motor was totally dead. Long long story short Brandon called 5 people including Thor(the manufacturer himself). None of the 5 costumer service people, including the Thor guy, were any help whatsoever. Brandon ended up totally tearing the bed apart himself. He unscrewed the top and went inside and disconnected all the wires and then manually set up the bed with my help. We talked about the difference in our personalities. I would shut down and claimed defeat and been depressed. Brandon problem solved and didn’t give up. Four hours later we were on the road driving from Minnesota to Fargo, North Dakota(remember the whole reason I tagged along on this trip was to mark that state off our map).
We just got started when a downpour of about 5 gallons of water leaked inside the RV.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. Water was pouring and pouring and pouring into the RV. It had been raining almost all of the three days we were parked at the campground. This water downpour has happened about 10 times now. Brandon has been in contact with General RV about it and they keep trying to fix it. It not only leaks inside, but the entire bottom of the RV takes on inches of water every time it rains, no matter how many times it gets sealed. We are not totally sure what is going to happen. As a manufacturer ourselves we understand that issues happen, and we don’t want to be pains in the butt. We get it. People are unreasonable and very demanding. That’s not our hearts at all. Water is a major issue and can’t be ignored. Brandon got a call from the service manager today and they are going to figure something out for us.
After we cleaned up the water we finally got on the road, obviously getting a very late start. We were driving about an hour when the temperature dropped 35 degrees and the wind was so incredibly strong. Brandon could barely drive. We stopped to get gas and heard that there were tornado warnings out and a tornado was coming. Magnificent.
We drove on. At one point we passed a semi and he swerved over into our lane because of wind. He almost hit us. Because of the drastic drop in temperature, the entire window fogged up and we couldn’t get it to defrost, adding to our completely unsafe driving conditions.
We got past most of the wind. We made it to the campground, but it was pitch black. The entire camp was without water hookup because of weather conditions. We found out that our site was a back in site, meaning we had to unhook the suburban and I had to help Brandon back up in the complete dark with inches between us and the neighbors. Have I mentioned that I don’t handle pressure well? I did it! Brandon did it. We held it together all day. The Donut Man dvd’s Got us through the RV ride. And life without Jesus is like a donut in case anyone was wondering. A coffee and 2 hard boiled eggs got Brandon through. At one point when he was under so much stress he said, “old Brandon would have ordered a pizza by now. New Brandon will just take a hard boiled egg.” Then later he yelled from the front “I’m going to need a 2nd hard boiled egg.” 🤣🤣🤣
Brandon wants me to let you all know the worst news of all. When we finally got all settled at the camp and put the kids to bed, he went to turn on the TV and guess what……no satellite signal. We had to rough it and watch a dvd.
