The Last Couple Weeks

First of all we had a bat in the house. It was a first for us. I knew it would happen eventually. Our home is way back in the woods, and every time we go out at night I see them swarming the sky above our house. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it. I have a theory for how he got in. We have a picnic table on our front porch. I had the kids coloring outside on the table earlier that day. They spilled an entire box of crayons and an entire box of markers of course. Just as it was starting to get dark I went outside and found the mess. I muttered a few unwholesome words, and cleaned everything up. I left the front door wide open and my back was turned probably for about 3 minutes. I think the little sucker flew in during that time. We didn’t realize our little friend came until around 10:00pm. I was in the basement doing lesson plans for the next day of school. Brandon yelled down “don’t come up! There’s a bat flying around.” I yelled back, “you’re funny!” I came upstairs. Big mistake. He was flying around everywhere. He was huge(for a bat). I did not handle myself well. I got some video footage. I thought I saw him dart down the hallway towards me. That was the end of my video footage. I ran and screamed and slammed the basement door. Brandon ended up just opening the front door and he flew outside. Just as I had calmed down and got the kids back to sleep( they all woke because of all the noise), Brandon, in his heart of compassion, threw an envelope at me as I was bent over. It slowly fluttered down(like a bat) and landed in my hair. I freaked out like Brandon has never seen me freak out. I almost threw the baby. Brandon was laughing and laughing as I was near hyperventilating. We learned a few things:

1. I handled myself a lot better during birth(4 times) then during a bat in the home

2. I am not a wilderness woman

3. Brandon sucks

Elizabeth bought us this nice set of box books to remember the occasion. 😁 It is quite the nemory. The kids have been talking and talking ever since. And just in case anyone was wondering Caed prays for me every night. He prays “God, help mommy’s heart. Help her to be scared(I think he means not scared). And help the bat not to go ffflllppp ffflllppp ffflllppp(as he makes the flying bat motion with his hands).

It’s come in really handy for more than just self-defense. Joah is getting really really good at playing. I’ve been playing with him as a way for us to get exercise.

The boys got to spend the day with Brandon’s mom, while Brandon went to a meeting. She took them to Chucky Cheese and took them to play with cousins.

It has been forever since we last went. The kids love going, but it’s so hard to do with school each morning. We’ve decided on Tuesdays we will go, then do school in the afternoon while the youngest two nap. I feel likes it’s good for the kids. They have to listen to another adult besides me, and they get some interaction with other kids. Plus the stories and the theme are always great.

Brielle and Caed didnt watch much of the game. They wanted to play at the park.

She came home with more than just shoes. I love the frilly leatard. It’s modest and very cute!
