Life as a Yowler

Life has been busy around here lately. We’ve been working hard at school. We even made another short trip to Ohio last weekend.  I rode down with my mom(who was meeting her sister and mom for the weekend). My mom dropped me and the kids off at Brandon’s mom’s house on her way.

We stopped and ate at Chic Fil A on the way. My mom now understands why I have conquered my car OCD and allow my kids to eat in the car. It’s a lot easier to feed the kids in the car then to drag them all inside. Isla is the only one who sits and eats quietly. All the others like to cause scenes and give us the play by play on very embarrassing stories and information.

Brandon’s Grandpa sent us to an indoor carnival. It was a fundraiser for the school where one of Brandon’s cousins sends her kids to school.

Usually Joah helps Caed, who is always timid on inflatables. He was too busy playing games, so big cousin Lainey helped out.

Shelbi Learned that babies are not always as adorable and innocent as they seem. Sometimes they reach for your bag and try to take your candy. 😊 She handled it very well.

We happened to go to Ohio on the Saturday that Sadie(Brandon’s cousin Shawn’s youngest) was celebrating her 1st birthday. We got to go to her birthday party.

Brielle and Charlee are little buds. They are really close to the same age. I heard Charlee explain to her little cousin(from the other side of the family) as we drove up. “Brielle is here! She’s awesome and she’s a whole lot nicer than her brother, Joah.” 🤣 I love the no filter of kids!

The kids played some fun games. We had to keep them entertained inside the garage, because it was raining out.

The kids got some extra attention and time from Grandma Yowler playing games. Joah even got a reading and writing lesson from Grandma, who just recently retired from teaching first grade.

They got root beer floats and Mickey Mouse pancakes.

We came back and Brielle started preparing for her dance class. It was a hard decision, but she finally decided on an outfit.

Can you tell she’s just a little excited? She is taking a tap class and a creative movements class this year. Joah is taking an all boys tumbling class. No pictures for him though. He’s too cool.

Brielle is excited to have the same two classes as her friend.

Isla and Caed ate a million snacks while we were waiting for classes to end.

I love this goof.

I love that the weather is starting to cool down. We have been playing outside a lot and going for golf cart rides.

Occasionally I even get off to pee, and come back to this. “Mom, I’m ready for you to go!” “Ha! Funny, kid!”

After four kids, you really loosen up about the way you parent. When Joah asked to stand on the golf cart and pick apples I responded with, “Well what the heck! Just go ahead and pick apples like that. Good, creative idea too!” I mean, he would just climb the tree if I said no, so what’s the difference really?

Even Brielle managed to pick a bunch with grace and coordination. It was all fun and games until it was Caed’s turn. He reached forward and was like “oh mom, it’s a beautiful app……….BOOM!” Well, that was the end of our fun. By the way, he’s totally fine….just a little shook up. Joah gently reminded me though “probably not your smartest idea to let us do that, mom.”

We moved our attention from apples to blueberries. Also, as a little side note this little angel has taking a 4 hour nap every single day this week along with sleeping all night.  I am SO thankful I’ve finally produced a sleeper(at least when she’s home in her own bed). Her oldest brother(you know the 6 year old) was up one night this week at 2am thinking it was morning. He did not go back to sleep and still didn’t nap. No joke. It all worked out. He made up for sleep the next night, and the Lord gave me the self-control to not sell him.

And in case anyone was wondering what the basement looks like after a morning of me doing school with the older kids. Yes, little Caeders is responsible for this mess. The boy loves to play…..with every toy in the house.
