We had a fun, laid back week this week. We studied the five senses in school. I tried to include some fun sensory activities for the kids after they were done with their workbooks. My kids have always loved to do fun activities like sensory boxes. I love when it’s warm enough for them to do everything outside.
Their very favorite activity we did was the homemade moon sand. For those wondering it’s super easy to make. Mix 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of oil. We used canola oil, but baby oil works just as well. It smells much better too. We made it for Caed while he was napping to surprise him.

He was pretty excited. The boys worked together and set up a dinosaur land.
We also did some water play. I let the kids each make an ocean. We used Crayola bath drops that we got when we toured the Crayola Factory. I wanted the kids to learn about mixing colors. The idea was for them to pick two drops and see what color they made.
Twelve drops later, they have some dark and gloomy looking water.
We snagged Lance and Grant’s old water toy from them. Surprise boys! They haven’t been using it too much lately. In fact, they haven’t even noticed it’s missing yet. The yellow barriers block the water from flowing. The kids had fun separating their ocean animals. Caed wanted to make sure the shark had a separate cage from the rest of the animals.
Our apple tree has some apples ready. I put Joah to work picking them. If he’s going to be climbing anyways, I might as well put him to work.
Isla was excited!
We found a berry(non poison) tree in our woods. Caed and Brielle worked together picking and filled the entire bottom of the wheelbarrow.
Then they took it into the playhouse and made some berry soup with pine needles. Mmmmm……a big part of parenthood is trying disgusting but very creative pretend food.
Isla discovered grass. She loves to pick it and try to eat it. I think what she likes the most is watching her mom react quickly trying to stop her from eating it.
We also did some indoor activities, like water painting. I love water paints. They are pretty much mess free. I let the kids paint boxes to go along with the fruit of the spirit we studied that day…..love.

Brielle has been really into dressing up her dolls during her school breaks. She dresses them up and does their hair then lines them up.

After school one day, I rewarded the kids by taking them to my parents house. They love to jump on their trampoline. Here they are in their happy place.
Ill end the blog with a short story…..
Brandon got an interesting call a couple days ago. It was from the sherif. The sherif said “Mr. Yowler, I’ve been trying to track you down for a couple weeks now.” Brandon isn’t much of a panicker, but he thought, “oh crap, why?” Turns out the sherif was calling him to thank him……to thank him for telling him his fly was down during the Pigeon Parade a couple weeks ago. I’m dead serious. I was mad at Brandon for telling him. Turns out he really appreciated it. He said “all I could picture was some idiot taking my picture and posting it all over social media and you saved me.” 😂 There are few people as bold as Brandon, but they are needed. They are helpful and they will tell you those truths that no one else wants to.
