Camp Day

Every once in awhile something EXTRA chaotic occurs. Let’s take today for example.

Brandon was gone all day doing trainings and having meetings. I had all 4 kids by myself obviously. I explained to them I would need instant obedience and good attitudes and cooperation all day, or we wouldn’t be able to do fun things. I told them if they didn’t obey me, we would stay inside the RV all day. They all did great. Even little Caed understood and cooperated really well.

I took them to the pool for awhile this afternoon. They swam and swam. I was swimming with them because I had Isla strapped in her stroller. She was laughing and watching us from the sidelines.

When I decided it was time to go, all the kids cooperated and got out of the pool right away. I dried everyone off and I was working on picking up all of our pool toys. I had the boys ride bikes. I carried the big basket of pool toys. And I had Brielle push Isla in her stroller. Like a scene from a movie, as I was gathering toys and telling the boys to get on their bikes, Brielle pushes Isla right into the pool. Both girls went falling in. I wasn’t worried about Brielle. She can swim really well. I immediately ran in(towel and all) and grabbed the baby. She was strapped and I couldn’t get her out of the straps. I used my super mother strength and lifted the whole stroller, which was very heavy with water. The poor baby was gasping, but totally fine. As soon as I grabbed her and hugged her, she was smiling and laughing. Brielle was a different story.

She was crying so hard and causing an even bigger scene than the baby dunking. I told her it was ok. I wasn’t mad at her. Accidents happen. I know she would never hurt Isla on purpose. She wasn’t hearing it. She was embarrassed and felt terrible. I managed to get the kids all back to the RV. I calmed Brielle down. I showed her that Isla still loved her. Babies are so forgiving.

I’m just so thankful I was right there and got the baby in time. I’m thankful Brielle cares about her sister. I’m thankful babies forgive and forget. I’m also thankful it’s almost bedtime. Here’s to a less eventful tomorrow!
