One of those days

Brandon and I both love Jesus, but sometimes we cuss. Today was one of those days. This is not in any way a joke. Sometimes I feel like our life is one big joke. In all reality, we have not lost electricity in the entire year and a half we have owned a generator. We bought the generator because we had lost power so many times previous to owning the generator. We have been laughing because we haven’t had to use it one time. The generator hooks up to Brandon’s tractor. Today Brandon took his tractor(which by the way for the last 90 days had been hookd up to the generator ready to go in case my dad needed it while we were gone) to trade it in for a new one. In the time he was gone with the tractor, we lost power….of course. This wouldnt be a huge deal but we live on a sandpit and we have about a half hour until the basement is under water, because our sump pump overflows.

Long story short I called Brandon. He said “very funny carla. Yeah right!” I told him no unfortunately i wasn’t messing with him.  He explained he wasn’t able to get the new tractor until monday. He did the quickst thinking he could and ran to the shop to get the tractor from there. By the time he made it back, the basement was under 2 inches of water. I don’t handle messes well. I dont handle stress well. I did not handle this well.

Brandon returned after this with the tractor. Now the shop tractor is much smaller than ours. It couldnt hold the generator which we found out the hard way when we dropped it….hard on the ground. Then we finally got it up but the tractor started tipping. Brandon made me sit on him on the drivers seat while we drove with the generator to hook it up. We must have looked like a freak show. Its pretty hilarious to think back on now that its over. Between both of our weights we were able to life the generator without it tipping. Its all thanks to my extra baby weight and brandons extra sympathy weight.

We finally got the freaking thing hooked up. The basement was completely flooded by that point.

I was already feeling really bummed today because we are supposed to be camping with friends this weekend but our RV is being fixed. Thats another story. We are having all sorts of electrical issues with it and they are having to take it back to the manufacturer. Its possible they will have to replace it, but we are unsure. But back to no camping. I’m really sad to miss, but we are going to go hang out tomorrow.

Here’s to a better day tomorrow!
