We made it home! We made it safely after almost 40 days on the road, only to come home and have an almost deadly experience. We got home at 12:45am. We were strongly debating waiting until the next day to unload the suburban, but decided to just go ahead and tackle it. Brandon went and immediately turned on the electricity, water, and air conditioning while I put the kids to bed. Then we unloaded the car together. Had we waited until the next day like we wanted, we wouldn’t have seen the smoke coming up over the side of the house. We discovered the air conditioner was smoking horribly and had caught on fire. The air conditioner is on the other side of the wall where both Brielle and Caed sleep. Brandon hosed it off and we stayed up an 1.5 hours and kept checking on it. When I keep thinking about what could have happened(we could have skipped unloading the car, we could have gone straight to bed, a fire could have started in brielle and Caed’s room and we might not have woken up in time to get them) I am overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s protection. We also could have waited until after we unloaded the car to turn on the air, and gone straight to bed. Like I said, I am overwhelmed and so so thankful we were all protected. We think an animal built a nest inside the air conditioner. There were tons of pine needles inside it. When we turned it on, the pine needles started on fire.
We are all so excited to be home. We actually came home two days early. We voted to skip Mackinaw Island and come right home. It was a very long day of driving yesterday, but very worth it. The kids have been playing and playing all day. In case you parents are wondering how to get your kids to play nicely with their toys…..just leave for 40 days. When you come home, everything will be like New and the kids will be entertained and happy all day.

With the exception of eating l, the kids have played and played all day.

Brandon is thankful to be out of the driver’s seat, where occasionally donkeys will be piled on his head.
