The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest

I’m a little behind on my blogging because of limited internet access the last couple days. Every time I would go to blog, we would be driving in an area with no service. A couple days ago we went to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. These things were on Brandon’s bucket list. He has always wanted to visit.

IMG_8631.JPGThe Petrified Forest is full of rocks that look like logs. At one point in time they were under water(we believe this was from the flood) and minerals soaked in to the logs transforming them into rocks, crystals, etc…. It was very interesting and really cool to see.

IMG_8624We went for a hike and saw lots of rocks.

Digging for dinosaur bones and checking out the different rocks.

IMG_8622.JPGIMG_8769.JPGThe kids have been having fun with Grandma Gascho although Isla is being a booger. She cries and cries and won’t let her hold her for long.

IMG_8772.JPGThe kids each earned a badge. Caed earned one too, but sat out for the picture. They are so proud of their accomplishment.  They each completed an activity book while we were driving and walking around the national park. We turned the workbook in to the park rangers at the end of the day. The kids had to recite the pledge(to help protect the parks), then they received their badges.

IMG_8615.JPGI think the kids missed Grandma just a little.
