Redwood Forest

We went to a forest today with red wood trees. It was incredible. It was a first for all of us. The trees were huge. You really had to see them in person. To give you perspective on how big these trees were, check out the right bottom corner of the picture. If you didn’t notice yet, that’s Brandon’s nose. 😂

IMG_8434.JPGWe took the kids on a two mile hike. It was good for all of us to get some exercise. All of us love spending time in nature.

IMG_8436.JPGIMG_8438.JPGIMG_8443.JPGThe locals told us that these are called banana slugs. They were the kids  favorite part of the hike.

IMG_8447.JPGWe learned about burls.

They were pretty cool looking.

IMG_8418.JPGBrielle found a few treasures and put them in her backpack. She was amazed at the little tiny pine cones. She kept yelling. “Oh boy. I hit the jackpot!” I made her put everything back before we left, since we aren’t supposed to take anything home.

IMG_8455.JPGBrandon found the perfect thing at the gift shop. She was so excited.

IMG_8448.JPGHe also found these chocolate slugs.

IMG_8451.JPGI picked this book  as a family gift. I’ve learned to pick books. They trigger all of our memories and help us remember places.

IMG_8379.JPGWe came back from our hike and played at the camp playground while Brandon worked.

IMG_8384.JPGOne of the many conversations I overheard from the backseat today as we drove was….

“hey Brielle, take off your socks and shoes. See if your feet smell like cheese like mine do.”
