Disney’s California Adventure

I forgot to mention in the Disneyland blog a story that happened. We were all on a river boat ride. The kids were so excited to find 5 adorable little baby ducklings walking along the shore. They were watching those ducklings when along comes this huge goose. He grabs one of the ducklings in his mouth and snaps his neck and kills the little guy. Definitely not something we expected to see at Disneyland. 😂 Joah was the only kid who picked up on what happened. He has a new understanding of what can happen in the wild.

Moving on to yesterday. We spent yesterday at the other Disney park in California….California Adventure. We got there an hour later than the day before, because we were all exhausted and slept in. We showed up at 9am and there were people lining the streets waiting to get in. One of the locals was shocked. She said she’s never in all her times at the park seen so many people there. It took us about 45 minutes just to get in. We were really worried. We couldn’t believe it since the day before, on Morhers Day, there weren’t too many people. It ended up working out well. Once we got into the park the people were all spread out. We had to wait longer in lines. Our average wait was about 30 minutes for the big attractions. We took the kids over to A Bug’s Land and we were only waiting 5-10 minutes for those rides. We did every single ride in a Bug’s Land. The kids were so excited. They all love the movie A Bugs Life. Califonia Adventure was the most unique Disney Park I’ve ever been to. We loved it. We hope to go back someday.

IMG_8068.JPGBethany bought Brielle this Jasmine outfit. Brielle was so excited. We were really hoping to meet Jasmine and have her sign her Jasmine doll. Unfortunately that never happened. They took the Aladin and Jasmine meet and greet and replaced it with frozen characters. We were disappointed for just a minute, then got really excited for frozen. Brielle and Caed love frozen.

IMG_0990.jpgWe waited in line about 20 minutes. Brielle could hardly contain herself. As soon as it was our turn she made a mad dash for Anna. She just about knocked her over. She ignored poor Elsa at first but then hugged her too. They were both laughing at Brielle’s excitement.

IMG_8050.JPGThe kids all love Olaf. Caed was hilarious. He was so excited he completely froze. He wouldn’t say one word to Olaf. He was just dancing around and being a goof. Olaf was loving it. Joah made sure to tell him, “you better not go outside Olaf. It’s starting to get really hot.”

IMG_1053.jpgThe boys were so excited to see Captain America. Caed was too nervous up close to him to take a picture with him.

The park had an entire land dedicated to Cars. It was called Radiator Springs. That was a highlight for the boys. Even Brielle loved it.

We rode all the rides in radiator Springs. We walked around for awhile. We got to see Mater and Lightning McQueen driving down the street. We also saw Mater and Lighting McQueen dressed as Buzz and Woody.

IMG_8154.JPGAt the end of the day Bethany took the youngest two kids and went and got seats for the parade. Brandon and I took the oldest two on the most terrifying ride of the day. Brielle was just tall enough to do it. Joah was so scared to do it. Brandon forced him to conquer his fears. I was right with Joah about to melt down, but I was trying to be brave for the kids. We got in our seats, buckled up, and prepared to drop. I thought it was going to be a huge drop down the side of the entire building. I had consoled Joah right before the ride by telling him, “don’t worry buddy. It will be over so quickly. One drop and it’s done.”  Oh no….it wasn’t that easy. First they shot us up then down then up then down then up then down…you get the idea. Brielle, who is our fearless child, was bawling and screaming. She’s the child who begs to ride roller coasters over and over. She was wailing. I kept telling her “just close your eyes. Don’t watch.” That’s what I was doing. I was closing my eyes and praying to survive. When the ride was finally over Joah didn’t say one word. Brielle screamed for our entire group to hear. “I did not like that daddy! I HATE that ride ok?!!!” Our whole group was laughing. We asked her if she wanted to go again. Even $1 couldn’t motivate her to do that ride ever again.

Brandon snuck away and got us all something to remember our time there. He got me this sweatshirt for Mothers Day

He got the kids each a matching shirt.

They had the coolest Disney parade I’ve ever seen at the end of the day. It was a light show/parade of characters. The kids loved it. It was a great ending to a great day.
