Some nights you need to put the kids to bed by 8

We have had way too many late nights lately. Ever since we got home we’ve been swamped. We unpacked, got a new RV, caught up on life and work, repacked, and are still currently finalizing details for the next trip.  We’ve been gone most nights until after 9pm. It’s made for some real grumps for kids.  It’s made for some insanity for me. It’s made me question, “why did we produce children again?”

Today was exhausting. Nothing too out of the ordinary happened, but I’m just extra tired. Some highlights include: Joah dropped Batman in the toilet mid poop and I had to fish him out with tongs. When I was done Joah goes, “mom, you might want to clean those because poop is really dirty.” Caed threw a 15 minute dramatic tantrum because his popsycle was cold. He threw the popsicle and threw himself on the ground and made sure the whole world knew he was upset. I’m sorry buddy. Next time I’ll make sure to give you a nice hot one like you requested. Even the sweet one, Isla, bit me today during a feeding. She has a tooth now and it hurt like crazy. It took me really by surprise and I kind of laugh yelled. She thought I was playing and started smiling and laughing. So there was no lesson learned and I’m fearing for the worst now every time I feed her.

We were home this evening so that called for an early bedtime. We played outside all evening, took baths, and they were all in bed by 7:50. I sat down and breathed a sigh of sweet beautiful victory. Just when I thought everyone was sound asleep I hear Joah belt out singing, “I’m still standing. Yeah yeah yeah.” I died laughing. I already love the kids again. It’s amazing what bedtime can do. I’m praying they all wake up in better moods and with less attitude tomorrow.
