Health

I attended MOPS this morning and my friend, Rachel, spoke about healthy eating and taking good care of our bodies. She stressed the importance of feeding and nourishing our family and making good choices. Now those of you who know Brandon and I well know that we have a slight area of tension in our marriage…health. Brandon has gotten better recently, but I wouldn’t classify him as a health nut. I’m not either at the moment. I was at one time, but Brandon has really influenced me over the years. He introduced me to caffeine and wine. He convinced me exercise is optional and nothing to obsess over.  He fattened me through 4 pregnancies when I had pretty much zero self control. He helped me achieve my new frame.

I returned home today from MOPS super inspired. Old healthy skinny Carla was back. I decided to make dinner for the family even though I had a hair appointment right over dinner time. I decided that was no excuse. I made meatloaf with venison, which is lean. I threw about every vegetable we had in the fridge into the food processor. I decided to hide veggies in the meatloaf so no one complained. Brilliant!

Brandon walked in the door after work and sniffed. He was like, “oh my gosh. What died?” I was like, “that’s dinner baking.” He answered, “well I guess pizza it is tonight.”

Did I also mention that when he walked in the door he surprised me with a large caramel frappe? He had just come through Cass City and stopped at McDonald’s and got me a coffee. That’s how he tells me I love you.

IMG_6623.JPGFor the record Brandon didn’t actually order the pizza. He decided to be healthy. We all ate our dinner of veggie loaf and brocolli. We topped it off with a fruit smoothie that Joah made for us.
