We had a great time staying at Kevin and Dawn Maust’s campground in Oklahoma. It’s a beautiful property and very warm friendly environment. They’ve cultivated a very positive atmosphere and we love staying at their camp. It was the second time we’ve been there. They’ve done a lot of updates since the last stay, and it’s an absolutely beautiful campground. We really appreciate their hospitality and warm welcome. I used to babysit their kids and it makes me feel old seeing how grown the kids are now. We didn’t even get to see Nicole because she’s in college now. When Brandon called the camp to book our site, Cami answered the phone. He said this is Brandon Yowler. I think she was a little confused. She asked if we have any pets traveling with us. Brandon said, “not unless you count kids.” That got her laughing and triggered her memory on who he was.
The kids really enjoyed the big playground. This was Isla’s first swing ride. She loved it. Joah loved pushing her and I only had to give a few reminders to push gently so we don’t give her whiplash We went and grabbed lunch at Jimmy John’s because Brandon had some errands he needed to run. Everyone’s blood sugar was low and trust me you don’t want to witness a famished Yowler child. Only one of the kids cooperated for pictures and it was only because he had eaten half his sandwich already
Since we were parked for the whole day, I took the opportunity to give Isla a sink bath. She’s only gotten showers up until this point. She fit perfectly.
Dawn is someone I really admire as a mother. She does a fantastic job and she also has four kids. I definitely look to her for wisdom and example. It was really encouraging to see her pouring into my kids last night.
Joah ended up falling asleep on Brandon which very very rarely happens. We decided to call it a night and said our goodbyes. Thanks again to the Maust’s for hosting us and for your great hospitality!!!
